Peer Supported Employment Opportunity Program

Do you or a family member have a history of opioid use that has impacted your ability to gain employment or to keep a job? Macomb/St. Clair Michigan Works has received funding to partner with Community Corrections, 16th Circuit Court Drug Court, and CARE of Southeastern Michigan to connect you to grant funding that can provide a number of employment-related services.

Employment services available to participants include:

  • Screening and career assessments
  • Individualized employment plans and case management
  • Career services consisting of workshops
  • Self-service career navigation stations
  • Recruitment of local employers
  • On the Job Training and classroom training opportunities
  • Job placement assistance

Peer Recovery Coaches will work in tandem with their career planner counterparts at Michigan Works! to create an individualized employment plan.

Follow-up upon attaining employment will be provided at a local Michigan Works! site or at CARE’s Recovery United Resource Center – a community center that provides health and wellness services, support groups, social activities, employment services, and other resources to those in recovery.

CARE of Southeastern Michigan, Community Corrections and the 16th Circuit Court Drug Court may provide additional supportive services and assistance with transportation, temporary housing, applying for medical benefits, childcare and securing identification or other services necessary to remove barriers to employment.
