Nursing Path Leads to Advanced Training and Higher Wage

Warren Career Center

“I had been a certified nursing assistant for 8 years and wanted to further myself in nursing. I lost my job and wanted to get back into school but didn’t know how I would do it.

Michigan Works! funded half of my tuition and helped with other school fees. A year later, I can finally say that I am a nurse. I couldn’t have done it without the Warren-Michigan Works! team. Ms. Burton, my career advisor, was very knowledgeable and promptly responded to every need I had. Michigan Works! staff is truly amazing! Thanks for everything.”

Anna Wright

Anna received an Individual Training Account with Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act funds. In addition to tuition assistance for Practical Nurse training at Oakland University-Focus Hope, Michigan Works! further supported Anna’s training with supportive services for uniforms, supplies, and licensing exam fees. Currently working as a LPN in a nursing care facility, Anna is earning an hourly wage of $23.00.
