Kidz Den Opens Possibility
Clinton Township Career Center
Business Account Manager, Nikki Pearson, visited Kidz Den Child Care to offer Michigan Works! services available to employers. She met with the owner, Danyelle Swift, who was interested in help with finding talent for her child care center.
The Business Account Manager assisted with hosting several job fairs at the Roseville and Warren Michigan Works! Career Centers and facilitated the interviews.
Danyelle hired two individuals to work as full-time Assistant Teachers. Both were hired through the Michigan Works! On-the-Job Training (OJT) program with Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessment (RESEA) funds. The business was assisted with nearly $5,000 in wage subsidies during the training period.
As Assistant Teachers, each worker received training while on the job in:
- Safe sleep techniques for infants and children
- Using the Parent Resource Board
- Writing classroom curriculum
- Completing MECE classes
- Understanding and implementing classroom rules
Danyelle has reported that the collaboration with Michigan Works! was extremely helpful and has had a positive impact on her company’s finances as well as enhancing her team at Kidz Den Child Care.
