From Job to Career

Warren Career Center

“I am a 46-year-old mother of 3 wonderful children. After working many years of unfulfilling, underpaid jobs, I made the decision to sacrifice and go back to school to further my education to make a better life for my me and my family. It was a sacrifice because I had to be a contingent employee to go to school full-time. To make a long story short, I applied and was accepted to Dorsey nursing school. It was there that I had heard of Michigan Works! assisting students with funding for education to obtain not just a job, but a worthwhile career. One year later, after completing the nursing program with the support of Michigan Works!, I am a full-time employee as a Licensed Practical Nurse. I am now working in a respectable, fulfilling career with unlimited potential. Thanks so much Michigan Works!, and a special thanks to my Career Planner, Amy LeDee!”
