Customer Thank You

Submitted by Colette Burton

“I came into Michigan Works! in Warren to apply for unemployment benefits because I lost my job due to budget cuts, which I heard about from a newscast before my employer told me. I had a B.A. from WSU in ISP (Inter-disciplinary Study Program). I attended part-time and earned my degree after 6 years. I had worked in retail, customer service and with high risk/suicidal patients.

My Career Planner, Colette, encouraged me to attend workshops, signed me up for them and invited me to attend “Peer Solutions”, where I learned all about job searching and interviewing. I did a Transferable Skills assessment with her to decide how to write different resumes for my interests and skills. Because of all the workshops I attended and the help from the Warren staff; Kim, Joann and Colette, I am now employed as a substitute teacher in the Tri-County area.”
