Credential Brings Stable Employment

Port Huron Career Center

Brian Miniaci looked to Michigan Works! for assistance in CDL training in order to advance as a truck driver with his employer. Due to unforeseen circumstances, his employment was terminated prior to the training. Brian, however, was determined to earn the commercial driver license. He was able to secure a pre-employment hire with a local trucking company pending completion of truck driver training and obtaining a CDL A.

With tuition assistance through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), Brian enrolled with Coast to Coast Truck Driving School. He completed the course in October 2017 and earned the CDL A license. He began work immediately with Right Choice, splitting his time as a truck driver and diesel mechanic.

Brian is thankful for the opportunity that was available to him. He credits his success to not only Michigan Works! but also to the Offender Success program.
