Free Career Training Opportunities for those that qualify!

Our No Worker Left Behind Program is . . .

Enabling workers to acquire the skills necessary to succeed in the fast-changing global economy of the 21st Century which is central to Michigan and the Macomb/St. Clair County Region strategy for economic transformation.

In her 2007 State of the State Address, Governor Jennifer Granholm announced the No Worker Left Behind (NWLB) free tuition program to help Michigan workers create a properous future.

The vision for No Worker Left Behind is to:

  • Accellerate worker transitions through learning
  • Support the state’s employers and economic development needs
  • Align the use of existing training resources

IF YOU ARE . . .

If you are UNEMPLOYED

UNEMPLOYED  OR...

Received a termination or layoff notice

Received a termination or layoff notice  OR...

Employed and your family income is less than $40,000 per year

Employed and your family income is less than $40,000 per year.

You May Qualify . . .

  • To receive up to two years of training at an approved training institution.

  • Receiving up to $5,000 for each of those two years to pay for training.

How do I Apply?

Visit one of our five MI Works Customer Service Centers in . . . 

Warren – Roseville – Mt. Clemens – Clinton Township – Port Huron     

  • Create a Resume on the MI Talent Bank Website
       

  • Schedule an appointment to attend a “Training Opportunities Seminar”

  • Upon completion of the Seminar you will be assigned to meet with a Case Manager to complete the required eligibility paperwork and complete a series of Assessment Services that may include:    


    • Career Interest Inventory

    • Proficiency and Aptitude Testing

    • Achievement Testing

    • Reading and Math Comprehension

    • Mechanical Aptitude

  • The Case Manager will then work with you to develop a Training Plan and assist in getting you on your way to a Career change with our Local Training Partners, i.e.; Macomb Community College, St. Clair Community College, and others that can be researched in our Local Resource Room Network and Michigan Occupational Information System Tools and research the “Career Education Consumer Report” at http://www.mycareereducation.org/ with the goal of a attainment or return to gainful employment in High Demand Occupations in our Region.

When to Apply?

Macomb/St. Clair MI Works Customer Centers are OPEN and taking applications – Monday – Friday from 8AM – 5PM (Excluding posted Holidays)
